The “big four” fashion weeks: New York, London, Milan and Paris – may still dominate the industry calendar, but Seoul’s biannual exhibition is gaining traction amid an explosion of interest in South Korean culture.

The Fall-Winter 2024 edition of Seoul Fashion Week, which concluded earlier this week, featured runway shows from more than 20 established and emerging brands. Hoping to “lead the growth of K fashion,” organizers set up a five-day calendar kicked off by fashion week veteran Sooy Park’s July column and closed by avant-garde brand Maison Nica.

Much of the hype was reserved for appearances by major Korean celebrities, including the K-pop band. NewJeans, who served as official ambassadors for the event. However, some of the most daring looks were found outside of the shows, as attendees braved the cold temperatures with a flurry of baggy pants, long structured jackets and elaborate accessories.
