Top 7 Footwear Trends for Spring 2024, Period

I know this winter seems like it will never end, but I promise spring is on its way. To get you ready for the best in next season’s fashion, we offer you downloads of everything from the hottest designer buys for the prettiest shoes to delight your eyes and everything in between. Spring 2024 has a lot in store for us, so I can say with certainty that the season will be worth it, at least when it comes to our wardrobes. One of the more interesting categories you’ll want to focus on? Shoes.

After scouring the runways, my social media, and the marketplace, I came up with the seven shoe trends that are having the biggest impact this spring. With Proenza Schouler’s runway-inspired mesh flats and sleek patent leather pumps currently having a resurgence, consider this list your north star for all things stylish footwear. Scroll on for the top shoe trends for Spring 2024 and shop the pairs we love most.

Nothing says spring more than the arrival of all things pretty and delicate. Mark our words: As soon as these long winter months are officially behind us, we’ll be slipping our feet into a pair of shoes covered in lustrous satin. The trend emerged on the runways at Altuzarra and Prada, where we saw satin heels in a variety of candy hues like pale blue and lime green. Now that they’re starting to hit the market, we can’t help but swoon over every pair we see.

In case you haven’t noticed, we’re taking watches back to the 1950s and 1960s, fashion-wise, and reviewing some of the defining items of the era. One such revival we’re noticing is the return of the almond pump, a style of heels that feature rounded toes, low heels, and a glove-like upper.

The reign of the ballet flat hasn’t wavered yet, but if you’re looking for alternatives to traditional ballet flats, this elevated version might be the one for you. Stylish pointed-toe flats offer a much more grown-up feel and immediately add polish to whatever you wear them in, whether it’s a pencil skirt or a pair of jeans.

The number one way to enhance any look in 2024 will be through a pair of shiny patent leather shoes. Whether it’s fitted boots like Ferragamo or slingback pumps from brands like Saint Laurent and Gucci, patent leather finishes define modern footwear for the season (and year) ahead.

The network is another perfect example of a recent footwear trend that will be renewed this year. With the onslaught of mesh flats going viral, it was only a matter of time until we saw its successor, and now it’s arrived in mesh form. Labels that already support this include The Row, Proenza Schouler and Stella McCartney, who tend to be trend leaders, so while these may seem out of place, everyone who is “in the know” will soon discover them.

Nothing is safe from the Burgundian movement. Everything under the sun is getting the oxblood treatment right now, from handbags to beauty looks, and yes, that 100% includes shoes. The black shoes in your closet probably needed a break anyway, so this is your cue to reach for this stylish alternative for a quick update.

Classic style is everywhere we look this spring, and no footwear trend encapsulates this timeless outlook better than pointed-toe styles. Chanel debuted a pair of white Mary Janes with the detail in its S/S 24 collection, and our editors haven’t been able to stop talking about them ever since. We’re now noticing a rise in classic style, especially kitten heels and flats that can easily become new everyday pairs.
