Union Home Minister Amit Shah has given state leaders a “winning formula” to ensure that the party’s alliance with the JD(S) wins all 28 seats in the Lok Sabha polls, converting the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, president of the Karnataka BJP unit. BY Vijayendra said on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters after Mr Shah’s meetings with members of the BJP’s state central committee and leaders of the party’s Mysuru group, he said there had not been any discussion today on the selection of candidates, and that the conditions for seat sharing with JD(S) will be decided by the leadership of both parties at the “Delhi level”. The party’s Mysuru group consists of Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha segments.
“Amit Shah’s visit to Mysuru was successful… He said that in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls the situation is favorable for the NDA to win all 28 seats in Karnataka. He gave suggestions on our action plan to convert Narendra’s popularity Modi in votes. and said that efforts should be made to increase votes by 10 per cent in each booth,” Vijayendra said.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, he said all the leaders who attended today’s meetings are confident that if Mr. Shah’s action plan is implemented effectively at the booth level, the BJP and the JD( S) they can win all the Lok Sabha seats in the state.
“We have also assured him (Shah) that we will work together and united as per his direction,” he said, adding that the party leader’s visit has instilled enthusiasm among party workers and leaders.
In the 2019 elections, the BJP had won 26 of the total 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, including that of Sumalatha Ambareesh, an independent supported by the party from Mandya. The Congress and the JD(S) had won only one seat each.
The JD(S), which is now allied with the BJP, had contested the Lok Sabha elections along with the Congress.
Replying to a question on seat sharing between the BJP and the JD(S), Vijayendra said, “It will be discussed by the state party leaders and leaders of both parties at the Delhi level. There has been no discussion on this today.” However, “Shah has given the message that everyone has to work together, regardless of who the candidate is.”
Stating that Shah has given suggestions on formulating an action plan, he said it cannot be shared with the media. “If we implement his suggestions, we will show results,” he said.
CT Ravi, senior BJP leader and former national general secretary of the party, said the party’s central committee meeting had also decided to effectively counter with facts the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah-led Congress government’s allegations of “injustice”. from the Center to the state, and bring the right message to the people.
The Congress government has alleged “injustice” towards the state by the central government in refunding taxes and subsidies, and also delay in granting clearances to various development projects.
