Parliament set to adopt resolution on Ayodhya temple today | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Both Houses of Parliament they are likely to adopt a resolution celebrating the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, in yet another move that will confer the official imprimatur on Ram Mandir. Sources said the discussion will focus on Ram Rajya on the last day of session before the Lok Sabha elections and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address both the Houses.
The BJP was silent on the plan and the whip issued on Friday ordering its MPs to be present in Parliament on Saturday simply cited “very important” legislative matters as the reason for the urgency. The motion, sources said, is likely to be dedicated to Lord Ram as a symbol of India and Indianness, Indian culture and someone who fought for “Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat”.
The motion in LS will be moved by BJP’s Baghpat MP Satya Pal Singh and Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde. This will be supported by BJP’s Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Santosh Pandey. In RS, the motion will be moved by party MPs K Laxman, Sudhanshu Trivedi and Rakesh Sinha.
Ram Mandir was a prominent thread during the budget session with President Murmu, in his address to the joint session, remembering ‘Pran Pratishtha’ as a “momentous and decisive moment”. Later, Modi, responding to the vote of thanks in the President’s address, said that Lord Ram was restored to his birthplace in Ayodhya, and that the temple would be a symbol of India’s rich cultural tradition. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also mentioned the ayodhya temple in his budget speech.
