Amid fervent appeals from anxious families of Navy veterans for their release and safe return to India, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) assured to use all diplomatic channels and provide legal assistance. The MEA confirmed that it is awaiting the detailed ruling in the case and is coordinating closely with the legal team in Qatar. The Ministry emphasized its continued support to the affected people and promised to continue providing consular and legal assistance, pledging to bring the matter to the attention of Qatari authorities.

The MEA’s legal team holds the confidential court order detailing the commutation of death sentences to prison terms, with varying lengths for each individual.
The MEA spokesperson also highlighted a recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Emir of Qatar, highlighting their positive discussions on bilateral relations in general.
