‘Snatched from NCP and…’: Sharad Pawar criticizes EC after losing party he founded | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Sharad Pawar on Sunday harshly criticized the Election Commission for “snatching” PNC from the hands of those who founded and give it to others.
“The EC snapped up the departure from the hands of those who founded it and built it and gave it to others; Something like this has never happened before,” said Sharad Pawar, who founded the NCP in 1999.
The comments come days after the poll panel gave the NCP’s name and its clock symbol to his nephew Ajit Pawar, who split the party last year and joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government. The octogenarian said that the program and ideology are important to the people, while a symbol is only useful for a limited period.
“I am sure that people will not support the ruling of the Election Commission against which we have appealed to the Supreme Court,” he said.
Earlier this week, the Election Commission designated ‘Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar’ as the official name of the Sharad Pawar faction.
