The Telangana government decided to change the state code from ‘TS’ (Telangana state) to ‘TG’ in a cabinet meeting, a change that will be reflected in all vehicle registration plates in the state.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the previous government chose ‘TS’ as per its whim and no other state in the country has ‘state’ in its code. Sunday’s decision was taken to implement an announcement made by the CM during the assembly election campaign.
Some other key decisions were made at the meeting. It has been decided that poet Ande Sri’s ‘Jaya Jaya He Telangana’, which became popular during the Telangana movement, will be the state song. The cabinet also decided that changes will be made in the statue of ‘Telangana Thalli’ (mother of Telangana) to reflect the aspirations of the people. In addition to these, it was announced that the Budget session of the Assembly will meet from February 8. In this sense, the governor’s speech was approved.
In addition to addressing BC’s caste census, two more guarantees will be rolled out during the Assembly session: the Rs 500 LPG scheme and 200 units of free electricity.
A new state emblem will be designed after consulting all interested parties. Other decisions taken were notification to the Kodangal Area Development Authority, modernization of 65 government ITIs as advanced technology centres, allocation of 100 acres of land for construction of a high court at Rajendranagar and formulation of guidelines for granting remission to convicts.
The CM also directed a sub-committee to submit a report on the reopening of the Nizam sugar factory. The opening of the Nizam-era factory has been a recurring poll promise in the state. The cabinet committee discussed the pending arrears and financial difficulties faced by the closed factory in Bodhan and Mutyampet. The CM inquired about the needs of sugarcane producers and their problems. He then asked the sub-committee to make suitable recommendations and suggestions to revive the factory.
