Uttarakhand violence news: Four dead and over 100 police officers injured in demolition incident | Dehradun News – Times of India

NAINITAL: Four people died in violent attack Banbhoolpura Uttarakhand city, with more than a hundred police officers holding injuriessaid AP Anshuman, deputy director general of law and order of the state.

The situation escalated when residents of the area allegedly pelted stones at an anti-encroachment team of the Haldwani Municipal Corporation when they arrived to demolish an “illegal” madrassa and mosque in Malik ka Bagicha. Despite the riots, demolition continued.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held an emergency meeting and a curfew was imposed in Haldwani until further notice, with exceptions for medical emergencies and essential services.
