What will things be like in 8 years? I think we will have landed on Mars and I think we will have sent people to the Moon. -Elon Musk
New Delhi: Billionaire Elon Musk on Sunday announced plans to move one million people to Mars. “We are drawing up a plan to take a million people to Mars,” Musk wrote in a post on X.com. “Civilization only passes the Great Filter of a single planet when Mars can survive even if supply ships to Earth stop arriving,” he added.
He said this in response to a post that said: “Starship is the largest rocket ever built and it will take us to Mars.”
“One day, a trip to Mars will be like a cross-country flight,” Musk responded to users who asked about launching Starship to the Red Planet.
Last week, the SpaceX founder said that “Starship should be able to reach the Moon in less than five years.”
He noted that the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft will take astronauts to the furthest distance from Earth in more than half a century. Musk added that it will take a lot of work to live on Mars. Additionally, in January, Musk said that he hopes SpaceX will send humans to the Moon within the next eight years. “What will things be like in eight years? “I think we will have landed on Mars and I think we will have sent people to the Moon,” Musk said.
It also intends to build a base on the Moon.
“Humanity should have a base on the Moon, cities on Mars and be among the stars,” said the owner of X.
“We should have a base on the Moon, like a permanently occupied human base on the Moon, and then send people to Mars. Maybe there is something beyond the space station, but we’ll see,” he had said in the past. Musk also hopes that Starship’s third flight test this year will reach orbit and demonstrate that the spacecraft can reliably deorbit.
