In one of the most important astronomical events of the year, the Sun produced a massive solar flare in the year 2024. According to NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, the solar flare was recorded on February 9. It has been classified as class X 3.4. burst. This means that it is one of the most powerful solar storms that have been recorded in the recent past.
Solar flares, which are powerful explosions of solar energy, can directly affect radio communications on Earth. A Hindustan Times report said shortwave radio blackouts had occurred in regions such as Africa, South America and the South Atlantic.
The solar flare observed on Saturday marked the beginning of the highest class, X, of the year. Researchers attribute its origin to sunspot AR3575. However, due to the location of the explosion, partially obscured by the edge of the Sun, there is a high probability that its intensity exceeds the initial classification. Scientists indicate that AR3576 is the likely source, characterized by an unstable delta-class magnetic field and alignment towards the general direction of the Earth.
