The newspaper also learned that there was a talk around Gill that he could have been sent to domestic cricket to work on his shortcomings with a gap of a week between the second and third Tests in Rajkot. Had he not countered the critics of him with a valuable century in the second innings in Visakhapatnam, he could have flown to Mohali, where Punjab hosts Gujarat from February 9 in the Ranji Trophy.
