MANCHESTER UNITED are sweating over Luke Shaw’s fitness after Erik ten Hag confirmed the star had “complaints” before being substituted against Aston Villa.
The Red Devils were leading 1-0 at the break thanks to Rasmus Hojlund’s goal when the hit occurred.
But United, who cruised to a late 2-1 win thanks to Scott McTominay, were forced into a half-time reshuffle when Shaw had to be taken off just two weeks after returning from injury.
And Ten Hag later revealed that Shaw had not been feeling well physically towards the end of the first period, leading him to decide not to take any further risks with him.
The Dutchman said: “Caution.
“He had some complaints and we can’t take any risks with him because he has had injuries in the past. We will have to see how he goes in the next few days.
“It is not an advantage to lose him, everyone knows my philosophy of having left-footers at left center back and at left back. “We have to make concessions and that does not benefit us.”
Victor Lindelof, more used to playing on the right, replaced the former Southampton player at left back.
Shaw, 28, was first injured in the 2-0 loss to Tottenham on August 19.
He then sat out more than three months due to what was described as a serious thigh muscle injury.

The defender returned to the first team at the end of November but suffered further misery two days before Christmas.
He then missed the rest of the festive period due to a muscle problem.
Shaw returned to action in the 4-2 FA Cup win at Newport County on 28 January and has since started wins over Wolves and West Ham.
Another potential problem for him further adds to Ten Hag’s injury woes.
Fellow full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka missed the trip to Villa.
The 26-year-old has been plagued by injuries this season and had a problem before United’s FA Cup win against Newport County.
Wan-Bissaka subsequently missed the Red Devils’ wins over Wolves and West Ham in the league but returned to training this week.
However, Ten Hag revealed that the full-back had to leave training on Thursday.
He lost centre-half Lisandro Martínez during his team’s 3-0 win over West Ham last weekend.
Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia are also out of action for United through injury.
